Christmas is coming to the Town Mill

THE Town Mill complex in Lyme Regis reopened this week in line with the end of the national lockdown and is now looking ahead to Christmas.

The historic watermill continues to produce flour for the local community and Christmas stocking fillers of baking kits for children, adults and pets are now available from the mill shop.

Viewing areas to watch the millers at work are also now open, and they are happy to talk to visitors about the history of the building.

The mill’s two art galleries are also now open; the Courtyard Gallery hosting the Pop-Up Vintage Store for pre-loved gifts and the Malthouse Gallery hosting a pop-up shop from Dorset Upholstery for the first weekend of December, followed by ‘Christmas at the Mill’ with more than 10 artists selling unique work perfect for Christmas gifts.

Due to the national lockdown, the mill was unable to open its special Remembrance exhibition to the public during November and this has now been moved to a new area above the Courtyard Gallery, with knitted poppies from volunteers also on display.

Father Christmas will be in residence at the mill for socially-distanced, safe visits on December 12, 13, 19 and 20 – families should book a slot in advance to avoid disappointment.

There will also be an outside Christmas trail, a naughty elf guessing game and a chance to view the children of Lyme Regis’ homemade decorations displayed on the giant Christmas tree in the courtyard.

The mill’s artisan businesses have continued through lockdown to offer online shopping and have now reopened their doors.

For full information on everything happening at the mill visit www.townmill.org.uk, where you can also book Father Christmas tickets.
