CHARMOUTH Parish Council has spent more than £9,000 of Section 106 funding on community projects.
Charmouth was allocated Section 106 funding, also known as ‘planning gain’ funding, raised from local developments.
Several local organisations applied for funding to carry out their own projects, including the bowls club and allotments association, but Charmouth Parish Council has also spent £9,300 on projects that will benefit the whole community.
These have included £3,000 to install an electricity supply at the Napoleonic lookout at the beach, currently used by the National Coastwatch Institution, and a further £3,000 in new play equipment at the Barr’s Lane playing field.
Low level lighting was installed for £1,500 outside the scout hut at Barr’s Lane playing field, and a further £1,800 is earmarked to create a new pathway in the cemetery to the new grave area.
Work in the cemetery will be carried out when the weather improves.
