PATIENTS have been told that Charmouth and Lyme Regis medical practices will merge from April 7.
It was announced in November that Charmouth Medical Practice partners, Dr Martin Beckers and Dr Sue Beckers, who plan to retire this year, had come to a merger agreement with Lyme Bay Medical Practice to ensure medical services in the village continued.
It has now been announced in a letter to patients that the practices will merge next month, operating as one under the name Lyme Bay Medical Practice.
This follows the recent merger of Lyme Bay Medical Practice at Kent House and Lyme Regis Medical Centre in Uplyme Road, under the management of GP Dr Forbes Watson.
Appointments will now be offered at Kent House, Lyme Regis Medical Centre and Charmouth Medical Practice.
Patients do not need to take any action as their registration and medical records will be transferred automatically.
Patients will be able to continue to make appointments with their usual GP and practice by using the eConsult form on the practice website or by telephone.
Charmouth Medical Practice will be closed on the afternoon of April 7 so that the clinical systems can be closed down ready to be merged. This means there will be no access to eConsult via the Charmouth Medical Centre website at this time.
