Charmouth Events Committee in danger of folding

Charmouth Party in the Park is one of the village’s most popular events

THE organisation behind some of Charmouth’s most successful social events in recent years is in danger of folding.

At a recent meeting of Charmouth Parish Council, chairman Peter Noel informed councillors that the Charmouth Events Committee could be disbanding but he was determined to make sure events such as the popular Party In the Park continued.

It is understood that the committee’s three main officers were planning to stand down at the organisation’s annual general meeting, but this has not been held due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Cllr Noel told LymeOnline: “It would be a great shame if the committee folded. We want to try and save the events in some form or other. We are just waiting for all this (COVID-19) to finish and we will be looking for volunteers.”

The Party In The Park, held on the Charmouth Playing Field over the August Bank Holiday, was a big success, attracting hundreds of people each year.

Other events organised by the committee included a folk weekend and mobile cinema screenings.
