Abbeyfield hosts annual summer fair

ON a glorious summer’s day, the Abbeyfield Society of Lyme Regis & District held their annual summer fair.

Visitors and residents of the Abbeyfield house in Silver Street enjoyed a homemade cream tea and were serenaded by local singer Roy Wooton and his grandson Harvey. After tea, guests and friends browsed stalls selling crafts, flowers and baked goods.

All the teas and crafts were made by the residents, staff and Abbeyfield volunteers and little was left unsold by the end of the afternoon.

Raffle prizes were generously donated by local businesses, with thanks to Whoopsadaisy, Co-Op, Tesco Express, Primary Colours, A Touch of Vintage, Roly’s Fudge Pantry, Jurassic Gems, Fossil’s Gift Shop, Pug & Puffin, Quality Corner, Edwards & Parr, Sea Salt, Papa Luca, Ginger Beer, Liberty & Family and The Volunteer Inn.

Thanks also go to the local residents and volunteers who helped make the event such a fun filled afternoon.

The Abbeyfield house in Lyme Regis, at Westhill, 24 Silver Street, offers sheltered housing for retirees, and is a charity run for the benefit of the residents. There is currently one vacancy and if anyone would like to explore the idea of independent living plus two home-cooked meals call 01297 443783.
