Marine Theatre looks forward to bringing community back together for Christmas

A performance of ‘The Little Match Girl’ is set to be one of the highlights of the festive season at the Marine Theatre

AFTER a difficult year for getting together, Lyme Regis’ theatre by the sea has released welcome details about its festive events for the community.

A particular highlight will be ‘The Little Match Girl’, to be held at the Marine Theatre on Thursday, December 16 – a very special family Christmas theatre show for all, filled with live music, puppetry and multimedia.

Living Spit will return with their comical take on the traditional nativity story

The hugely popular comic duo Living Spit take to the Marine Theatre stage on Friday, December 10 for a hilarious interpretation of the nativity.

With the usual mix of songs, puppetry and general silliness, their version of the Christmas story promises to be unforgettable.

Lyme Regis’ annual free community film returns on Wednesday, December 15 with a screening of ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’, Frank Capra’s classic heart-warmer starring James Stewart.

There’s also a special double-bill of two family classics: Raymond Briggs’ ‘The Snowman’ and ‘Father Christmas’ will be played back-to-back on Wednesday, December 22.

The Marine Theatre’s director Gabby Rabbitts said: “I am joyful to be sharing details of our Christmas programme today, after a challenging year for Lyme.

“There’s plenty here for all, including our free film ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’. It never fails to bring a tear to my eye.”
