FOLLOWING a successful launch of National Theatre and Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) live screenings at the Marine Theatre in Lyme Regis, the venue has expanded its programme to include broadcasts of performances from Glyndebourne, Bolshoi Ballet, the Royal Opera House and Royal Ballet.
The new season starts on Sunday, April 8 with ‘Giselle’, broadcast from the Bolshoi. Prima ballerina Svetlana Zakharova personifies this ultimate ballerina role in the classical repertoire, alongside the sensational Sergei Polunin as Albrecht.
On April 11 The RSC’s contemporary production of ‘Macbeth’ marks both Christopher Eccleston’s RSC debut and the return of Niamh Cusack to the Company.
Other highlights include Oscar Wilde’s ‘An Ideal Husband’, a live ballet screening of the Bolshoi’s unique version of ‘Coppélia’ from Moscow, and Puccini’s ‘Madama Butterfly’ will be screened direct from the famous festival Glyndebourne.
The Marine will also join in a nationwide broadcast of John Hurt’s final film ‘That Good Night’ on May 13.
