‘LILY & the Albatross’, a special play about the ocean, is a fitting highlight to a week of half term events at the Marine Theatre in Lyme Regis.
Combining a unique style of puppetry, live music and visual performance, ‘Lily & the Albatross’ is a heartfelt story set far out in the wild and remote ocean with a small family on an old fishing boat.
While the whims of the water control the daily routines of their little community, Lily (pictured) has a different perspective. Then one day a very special bird flies in from across the water, one that glides in the face of a storm, one that makes Lily question everything and gives her the nudge she needs to truly stretch her wings.
The play will take place on Saturday, October 27 with doors opening at 1pm for a 2pm start. On Sunday, October 28 the Marine will host a half term Halloween special its popular daytime parties for parents and their children.
With a real DJ spinning records with floor-fillers from the 70s to present day, this young people’s ‘club night’ is very different to a normal children’s party, and will include Halloween face painting, mask-making, and ghoulish decorations to take home after the party, while parents can relax, socialise and enjoy a drink in the bar.
Family-favourite film ‘Incredibles 2’ will be screened on Tuesday, October 23 at 2pm – everyone’s favourite family of superheroes is back but this time Helen (voice of Holly Hunter) is in the spotlight.
