Marine Theatre to host free technicians’ course for young people

THE Marine Theatre in Lyme Regis is to run a new 10-week course offering young people a platform to launch a career in the arts – and it’s free.

The Young Technicians’ Course is open to 16 to 25 year olds, funded by the Arts Council, and will start in January 2022.

Led by five experts from the music industry and theatre, it will provide hands-on workshop sessions, and the opportunity to shadow the technical team as they manage live shows.

Practical experience across lighting, sound, and stage management will be given. Towards the end of the course, there is the opportunity for the young creatives to independently manage a full show.

Marine Theatre director Gabby Rabbits said: “We’re delighted to launch this new opportunity in Lyme Regis for young people to gain the right skills and knowledge to enter the creative industry and to benefit from the mentorship and experience of industry experts.”

The course is held in association with local music charity, B Sharp. It is completely free but you must register by emailing
