Lyme Regis comes together for Marine’s 125th anniversary

THE Marine Theatre in Lyme Regis is 125 years old this year and has organised a host of events as part of the celebrations, including a brand new production called ‘The Lyme Regis Revue’.

Cultural groups from across the community are joining the theatre for this important occasion and the town is coming together to celebrate the wealth of talent in Lyme Regis.

Each group will create their own short performance, which will all run across each evening, to create a fantastic and eclectic celebration—a ‘best of’ Lyme Regis. The organisations include The Marine Players, Lyme School of Ballet, B Sharp, and Lyme Regis Pantomime Society.

‘The Lyme Regis Revue’ will be held from Thursday, June 20 to Saturday, June 22. Shows will be held at 7.30pm on the Thursday, 8pm on the Friday, and 2.30pm and 7.30pm on the Saturday.

Tickets cost £6 for children or £12 for adults in advance, or £8 for children and £14.50 for adults on the door. To book, call 01297 442138 or visit

The Marine Theatre is also asking supporters to ‘Adopt A Year’ from its history for its 125th anniversary. It could be the year of your birth or a special historic event.

The scheme aims to raise funds for the Marine Theatre’s ongoing improvement scheme. Adopting a year costs £125 and you’ll receive a named on a plaque on the theatre wall; a certificate of your adopted year; an anniversary enamel badge; your name on the theatre website; a thank you on social media; and an invite to an exclusive party.

The theatre is also hoping to put together a display of photographs of the Marine’s 125-year history. Anyone with any old photos of productions held at the Marine or showing the inside or outside of the building are asked to bring them into the theatre office or email them to
