The cast of Lyme Regis Pantomime Society are now in their final week of rehearsals

MEMBERS of Lyme Regis Pantomime Society are excited for two firsts at its annual production next week.

This will be the first time the organisation has performed ‘The Sleeping Beauty’, and the first time it has performed at the Woodmead Halls.

Under the direction of Sarah Causley, the cast will take audiences on a magical trip through the traditional fairytale with a few surprises along the way. They have women dressed as men, men dressed as women, goodies,  baddies and even a couple of cats – all in true panto tradition!

The show also include’s the society’s biggest ever chorus, with lots of enthusiastic singers and dancers of all ages taking to the stage.

Naomi Davies-Griffiths takes the lead of Princess Aurora with Melissa Denslow playing lead boy Prince Orlando.

Local musician Lauren Glover has also joined the society this year as musical director, and has worked closely with the cast throughout the rehearsal process. She is joined by Peter Yates and Glynn Rattenbury for show week to make up the panto band.

By staging the show at the Woodmead Halls, the society hopes that it will make the production far more accessible for everyone, with the venue offering with disabled access and facilities, plenty of parking and a larger auditorium.

Working closely with the staff and committee at the Woodmead Halls it is hoped the show will be bigger and better than ever.

This traditional pantomime by Ben Crocker will take place at the Woodmead Halls from Wednesday, February 14th to Saturday 17th nightly at 7.30pm, with a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm.

Tickets for adults cost £10 and £6 for under 14s, available from Lyme Regis Tourist Information Centre on 01297 442138.
