Tap stepping through March

dear editor letterEVERY March, Cancer Research UK encourages people to either walk 10,000 steps a day or Cycle 300 miles.

Well, I don’t have a bike and I can’t cycle anyway, and walking is nothing unusual during lockdown, so I have decided to do something slightly different as my own challenge.

Sixty years ago I started dance classes and I fell in love with tap dancing so I will do at least 300 times steps every day for a month.

Although this doesn’t sound very much those 300 times steps will actually be 2,400 steps.

All the music that I have chosen will be of different lengths so I will have to repeat some pieces of music several times to achieve my 300 times steps.

In fact, in the first five days of my challenge I ended up doing 350 times steps one day and 360 on another.

Not only that, I do not have the same energy levels that I had 60 years ago so physically this is a harder challenge for me than just doing long walks.

I have set up a fundraising page on Facebook for donations that will go direct to Cancer Research UK, which you can access by visiting www.facebook.com/donate/3779145402180687/

I am hoping that you will help me achieve my target by sponsoring my efforts for this good cause.

I’m raising money for Cancer Research UK and your contribution will make an impact, whether you donate £5 or £50. Every little bit helps.

Thank you for your support.
