LETTER: Sculptures make Lyme a ‘laughing stock’

Smile for mummy – kids having their photo taken on the new art installation which will sit on Cobb Gate beach all summer to encourage people to take home their rubbish (photo by Richard Austin)

WITH reference to the temporary ‘litter’ sculptures on the beach:

I think it is time that Lyme Regis councillors realised that the erection of such sculptures, including the tree thongs in the gardens, are an absolute waste of time, turning what was the Pearl of Dorset into the Laughing Stock of Dorset.

A total waste of money that could be put to better use keeping Lyme looking pristine as possible and maintaining its historical and picturesque charm.

The gardens look a mess and the toilets next to the Cobb Arms are disgusting.

They want people to come to Lyme and spend time and money here, so do the right thing and maintain the immediate facilities or lose the revenue from the tourists.
