A trip back to the 90s with top Oasis tribute

THE Marine Theatre in Lyme Regis is going back to the 90s, with the UK’s most authentic tribute to Oasis, alongside 90s DJs.

The 90s were brilliant, pop music was old enough to know what it was doing, and smart enough to know what it shouldn’t be. No other decade has thrown up more variety and diversity.

You can’t look at that decade and define it by anything; there was simply too much going on. Rock and pop bestrode the entire planet like rarely before or since. With grunge, guitar music enjoyed possibly its last true innovation.

The decade wins for ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ alone, but the heady college rock scene that surrounded it created one of the most glorious eras in all of pop culture; a world of Reality Bites and Generation X and My So-Called Life and even Beavis And Butthead.

Britpop was amazing. A homegrown scene of the breadth and quality we hadn’t really enjoyed since punk, at the top of it the politically-savvy wit and style of Pulp, the colourful whizz of Blur, an the thrill of Oasis.

The group Oasiss is composed of Brian (as Liam Gallagher), Lee on lead guitar and backing box (Noel Gallagher), Robin at the rhythm guitar, Chip at the bass guitar and Karl at drums.

Oasiss play to large crowds including 2,000 people at Wareham Quay in August 2017 and will be coming to the Marine on Friday, July 27 with support from 90s DJs playing the best Britpop and Britrock anthems.

Tickets cost £8 in advance or £10 on the door, with a 10 per cent discount for Theatre Friends. Book by calling 01297 442138 or at www.marinetheatre.com where a booking fee may apply.
