AS the coronavirus pandemic started to take hold in the UK, popular vegetarian restaurant and deli Tierra Kitchen realised it would have to make some changes to the way it operated.
Before lockdown was announced, the team at Tierra took the decision to close doors and instead started preparing nutritious ready meals for delivery around the local area.
The meals are freshly prepared every day in a safe, sanitised kitchen and the generous portions are packed with flavour and reasonably priced, most costing just £5 or £6.
Tierra Kitchen steadily grew its customer base for deliveries throughout lockdown and received some great feedback. They are now planning to continue the delivery service throughout autumn and winter, with fortnightly changing menus offering a selection of vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options which are either ready to eat or can be easily warmed up at home.
Tierra Kitchen has built up a hugely successful reputation over its seven years in Lyme Regis. It opened in Coombe Street in 2013 under the creative eye of chef Mark Evans, who had already seen success at Bristol’s Café Maitreya – twice named Restaurant of the Year by the National Vegetarian Society and winner of the 2007 Observer food monthly award for Best Vegetarian Restaurant in 2007.
With consistent listings in the Good Food Guide, Café Maitreya was part of a renaissance in vegetarian cuisine and Mark has continued to build on this legacy at Tierra, consistently receiving rave reviews on TripAdvisor.
Its modern and vibrant menus take inspiration from the Mediterranean and use the best local, seasonal, organic and wild produce available in the West Dorset and East Devon area.
All the dishes revolve around a star seasonal, local ingredient, fully complimented by all the other elements to create a plate with a great depth of flavour, colour and texture. From warming hotpots to spicy curries, pasta dishes to pastries – there is something to suit all tastes.
Tierra Kitchen hopes to reach more local residents as it continues its delivery service every Tuesday to Saturday throughout the autumn and winter. The deli counter at the Coombe Street restaurant is also now open to pick up takeaway meals.
The service is perfect for those who are still self-isolating at home, don’t have time to cook a nutritious dinner themselves, or if you just fancy a takeaway treat!
Deliveries are made to Lyme Regis, Uplyme, Charmouth and Morcombelake between 3pm and 6pm daily from Tuesday to Saturday, as well as to the Axminster area on Wednesdays, Bridport area on Thursdays and Seaton and Colyton area on Fridays.
