Lyme Regis Art Society holds its first virtual exhibition

FOR more than 30 years Lyme Regis Art Society’s programme has culminated in an annual display of the members’ artistic talent.

This year, the society has surpassed itself in meeting the challenges of COVID-19. Unable to exhibit at the Town Mill as usual, members have created an online exhibition with more than 50 entries, including paintings in a wide variety of mediums, textile work and pottery.

This year’s judge was Hannah Twine, who runs art workshops across Devon, Dorset and France, tutoring both adults and children.

Hannah commented: “The society is so diverse and talented… every piece has qualities worthy of winning prizes.”

Pat Campbell took first prize with her painting ‘Sailing in Lyme’ (pictured above). Graham Austin came second with his dramatic pastel ‘Lion’ and Ros Hipkiss came third with her oil painting ‘East of Eype’.

All artwork will be on view and available to purchase via the virtual exhibition at until Saturday, June 20.

You can also find details on joining the society on the website.
