Lyme Forward launches new Memory Café

LYMEFORWARD launches a memory café for Lyme Regis and the local area on Wednesday, February 21st at 2pm.

The ‘Meet and Remember’ café, which will be run by volunteers, will provide a supportive, friendly environment for those experiencing memory loss or who have recently been diagnosed with dementia and the friends/relatives/carers who support them.

Monthly sessions, funded by Lyme Regis Regatta & Carnival Committee and the local Rotary Club, will include a mixture of music, crafts, memory activities, talks and information about dementia, general interest talks and outings. Information and advice will also be available and there will be tea, coffee and cake.

There will also be a small lending library that will include books with information about dementia and reading books that can be accessed by those with memory loss and their families and friends. Any donations of suitable books would be welcome.

Sessions will take place on the third Wednesday of each month at Lyme Regis Football Club in Charmouth Road. The clubhouse, the use of which has been donated for free by the football club, now offers fantastic facilities for community events following its recent refurbishment and free parking.
