POPULAR Lyme Regis painter Julie Oldfield will be exhibiting for the second time this year at the Town Mill’s Courtyard Gallery from August 10 to 29 in a showcase entitled ‘Radiance’.
Julie’s latest series of paintings focus on skyscapes, rather than the seascapes for which she is most known.
Having set a challenge to herself to explore the moodiness and unpredictability of rapidly changing skies, Julie has used experimental techniques that themselves have unpredictable results, like working on copper, aluminum and brass sheets with mixed media, heat and chemistry, in order to bring out the luminosity and radiance of her skies.
As Julie stewards her own shows and tends to paint while she’s in the gallery, visitors are welcome to come and see the artist in action.
Also open until August 15 in the Town Mill’s Malthouse Gallery, the annual Summer Open displays a selection of 2D and 3D work created by Dorset and Devon artists.
Work includes paintings, sculpture, ceramics, prints and photographs, many by members of Town Mill Arts, a local organisation of more than 100 artists.
Both exhibitions will be open daily from 10.30am to 4.30pm, admission is free and more details can be found at www.townmillarts.co.uk
