Dry January is over… now it’s time for cocktails!

mark hixWELL, it seemed to go on forever, but we got through January!

I’ve been keeping busy creating new recipes for a vegan cookbook which I am basing around my Kitchen Garden at home. I like to have a project to keep me occupied and I’ll be approaching the publishers soon so watch this space…

My Kitchen Garden at The Fox Inn was looking pretty good too until the wind and snow came along and blew away my poly tunnel.

I guess it’s a bit of trial and error. I didn’t quite inherit my grandad’s green fingers, but it’s all a learning curve – I’ll get there eventually.

This week I have been doing a bit of filming with Black Cow pure milk vodka, so I’ll share those with you on our Hix at Home YouTube channel when they are ready to view.

There are already a few videos on there from last year which you might enjoy watching while we are all in lockdown. There’s plenty of cocktail recipes and a couple of Hix at Home videos from the fish boxes that we ran last year.

Speaking of cocktails, now is the ideal time to be ordering our Mark’s Bar at Home cocktails for a night in on Valentine’s Day.

Usually at this time of year the restaurants would already be fully booked for February 14th, with flowing Hix Fixes and maybe even a proposal or two.

But this year the doors remain closed while we stay safe at home. None of us will be going anywhere this year, so best to get organised in advance if you’re planning on a romantic night in.

So, order your Temperley Sours and Dorset Donkeys online to create your own Mark’s Bar at home.

We’ve had a lot of requests for our turbot and scallop fish box for Valentine’s too. I’ve also started selling my smoked salmon by the half-side, so if it’s just for the two of you, you don’t need to worry about how you’ll get through a whole side between you!
