IN-FORM Uplyme & Lyme Regis Cricket Club failed by just 41 runs to beat Devon Cricket League Division E East high-riders Sidmouth 3rd X1 at the King George V playing field on Saturday.
Sidmouth, second in the table, won the toss and elected to bat, posting a total of 191 runs for the loss of nine wickets in the allotted 45 overs.
Bowling honours for Uplyme were shared by Tyler Wellman (3 for 23 off nine overs) and Gabriel Maltby (3 for 42 off 8 overs).
In reply Uplyme , without influential batsmen Steve and Mark Batey, were bowled out for 151 in 32 overs with opening Carlie Moss (42), Jedd Whittington (28) and Brice Maltby (22) top scoring.
Uplyme had to settle for just seven points, but they remain in third place in the table, nine points ahead of nearest rivals, Topsham St James, having won one more game that their nearest rivals.
This coming Saturday Uplyme travel to CountessWear who are second from bottom in the table, having won just four of their 11 games.
