Skittles League calls emergency meeting as Ship Inn to close in February

LYME Regis Skittles League has called an emergency meeting following news that the Ship Inn – the only remaining pub in town with a skittle alley – will close on February 6.

Skittles league players will be asked how they wish to proceeds for the remainder of the 2018/19 season.

In a communication to all 24 teams in the league, secretary Mark Williams said: “All players are welcome to attend, but as a minimum it would be good if all teams (ladies and men’s) could send at least one representative who is able to make a decision/vote on behalf of their.

“The committee do have some options to offer as solutions on how we might complete this season – all is not lost! Equally we would be very happy to hear thoughts and suggestions from any teams either in advance of the meeting or on the night.

Fixtures up to the start of February are unaffected – games continue as per the fixture book (and the amended fixture list as published last week resolving the Rock Point Inn closure). The cup fixtures for w/c 4th February 2019 will be published at the weekend and can continue as normal as no games are scheduled that week at the Ship Inn.

The meeting will be held at Lyme Regis Power Boat Club on Tuesday, January 29 starting at 8pm.

Current licensees at the Ship Inn, Alan and Virgina Henson, are leaving and Palmers Brewery is currently seeking new licensees, with its listing for the pub saying that the skittle alley is an important part of the business.
