Rovers back to winning ways

PLAYING a rare game at the Davey Fort tonight, Lyme Regis Rovers bounced back after their 5-0 defeat at the hands on Donyatt United on Saturday with a competent 4-2 victory over Perry Street Division Three rivals Merritt Tornadoes.

The Rovers got off to a cracking start with Peter Peacock and a brilliant header from 15 yards out from Scott Myers giving them a 2-0 lead within 13 minutes.

The visitors pulled one back but just before the internal Jonny Day showed great perseverance to send the Rovers in with a 3-1 advantage.

Matthew Preece with a corking volley added to Lyme’s tally in 76th minute with the Tornadoes grabbing a second shortly before the full-time whistle.

The Rovers still have four more league games and tonight’s three points restores their respectable mid-table position and could see them climb a few places with a positive finish to their season with fourth place still achieveable.
