Openers pave way for another 20-point victory

A 91-run opening partnership steered Uplyme & Lyme Regis Cricket Club to another 20-point victory and third place in the Devon Cricket League Division E East.

Visitors to the King George V playing field on Saturday, Woodbury & Newton St Cyres, won the toss and elected to bat, but they were no match for the Uplyme attack and were bowled out in 41.1 overs for 147.

Pick of the six Uplyme bowlers were Tyler Wellman (3 for 23 off nine overs) and Charlie Moss, who also claimed three wickets in his 5.1 overs for the loss of 32 runs.

In reply, openers Steve Batey and Rob Thom put on 91 runs with Batey hitting 88 without scoring a boundary and Thom adding a useful 29. Mark Batey (27) and Tyler Wellman saw Uplyme to victory with only 26.4 overs bowled.

This victory sees Uplyme tetur to third place in the division behind the two best clubs, leaders Noerh Devon 2nds and second placed Sidmouth 3rds.

This coming Saturday, Uplyme travel to Bradninch who are fifth in the table.
