Mixed fortunes for the Seasiders

MIXED fortunes yesterday (Saturday) for Lyme Regis Football Club with the first team losing away to Upottery in the Devon & Exeter Premier division but the Reserves beating Dvision Three high flyers Halwill 2nds 5-0.

In a lack-lustre performance, the 1st team wet down 4-1 at Upottery, their only goal coming from Joe Bond. With the East Devon villagers several places below them in the table, this was a game the Seasiders expected to win and they drop to fifth place, their lowest position of the season.

By contrast, the Reserves produced another excellent performance against a side which started the day second in Division Three. The Lyme goals came from Matt White (2), Sam Pollard, Steve Batey nd Nathan Womersley.

The Rovers’ away fixture against Crewkerne Rangers Reserves was called off to a waterlogged pitch.

The coming Saturday, Lyme 1st will be away to Beer Albion who are one place behind them in the table. The Reserves re away to Pinhoe 1st, lying second from bottom in Division Three. The Rovers are away to Forton Rangers who have won just three of their nine fixtures this season.

In Perry Street Division One Charmouth’s woes continued with 5-0 defeat at Crewkerne Rangers. Uplyme won a place in the semi-final of the Daisy Hutchings Cup with a 3-1 win over Ilminster Town A.
