Personal trainers to open unique fitness facility

HAVING launched in April 2017 offering just one bootcamp class a week, Lyme Regis-based California Fitness has gone from strength to strength and is now moving to a new, permanent home in Axminster.

Jesse and Aneesa California (pictured) – both Level 3 qualified personal trainers – have built up their business over the past 18 months, and have just received planning permission to convert an industrial unit on the Millwey Rise estate in Axminster into their own headquarters.

Stepping away from the normal gym environment, the new unit will provide a custom space for California Fitness to offer their private personal training sessions, as well as expand on their popular programme of group classes, which have been held in various venues around the local area.

One of California Fitness’ main aims is to encourage people who don’t feel comfortable going to the gym, as well as those who suffer mental health issues, such as depression and anxiety, using exercise as a form of therapy.

As parents of a young daughter, Jesse and Aneesa know it can be difficult to fit in exercise around parenting, so they will also be creating a safe, padded area for parents to leave their children in the unique fitness facility.

Aneesa said: “We have been looking for our own space ever since we started but struggled to find anywhere suitable. After building up our business, we’ve managed to secure an investor and found the perfect space in Axminster.

“We want to encourage people who don’t feel comfortable in the usual gym environment. We want to show them that you can do it from home!”

Jesse and Aneesa compete in bodybuilding; they both recently placed within the top three of their categories at the regional UK Ultimate Physiques competition and are now heading to the national finals.

Aneesa added: “We have helped some of our clients to start competing, but it’s not all about competitions; we want to help people start out on a healthy lifestyle and achieve their personal goals.”

The fitness facility is scheduled to open on November 1, offering affordable and accessible personal training sessions between 7.30am and 9pm from just £16 a session.

Regular classes will include Boxercise, for which Jesse and Aneesa are both trained specially in; circuits; bootcamps, legs, bums and tums for women only; and a new mums and babies group in which parents can exercise with children under two years.

Freelance instructors will also be offering additional classes, such as yoga.

California Fitness also offers bespoke nutritional plans and a range of supplements. Early bird membership for the first 30 people to sign up costs £24.99 a month, offering access to all classes, with membership after this costing £29.99.

All are welcome to drop-in to the grand opening on November 1 between 9am and 7pm for more details on the services provided by California Fitness, or visit the website www.california-fitness.co.uk
