Uplyme Morris perform at Stonehenge

HAVING built up a reputation at events across the South West in recent years, Uplyme Morris were delighted to perform at the iconic Stonehenge earlier this month.

The morris side were invited to join hosts Sarum Morris, along with the Mowena Dance Troupe from Slovakia, as part of the Salisbury Festival celebrations.

Pete Morton from Uplyme Morris commented: “We spent an amazing morning dancing in front of the iconic stones watched by hundreds of visitors from  the UK and from other foreign  countries.

“English Heritage informed us there were more than 10,000 visitors due over the course of the day.

“We then spent the afternoon at Avebury Rings, where we enjoyed performing in front of a mixed enthusiastic crowd. A great day was had by all.”

Uplyme Morris collected £70 for local charities on the day. Their next performance will be outside the Harbour Inn on Marine Parade as part of Lyme Regis Lifeboat Week, starting at 7pm on Friday, August 2.
