Residents object to takeaway in Silver Street

blueprintPLANS for a takeaway in Silver Street, Lyme Regis, have been met with strong objection from neighbouring residents.

A planning application has been submitted to West Dorset District Council to change the use of the former Creative Interiors shop at 4 Silver Street from retail to hot food takeaway open until 11pm, and to install an extraction fan.

But neighbouring residents have expressed concerns over the plans, saying it is the “wrong place” for a takeaway.

Residents’ concerns include the road being too narrow for cars to stop and lorries to deliver, and lack of parking facilities nearby, which may cause traffic congestion, as well as the possibility of noise, litter and “bad behaviour”, and air pollution from the extraction fan.

The application does not specify what type of takeaway it will be.
