Rare coastal plot for sale in Lyme Regis

The plot of land above Marine Parade in Lyme Regis, which currently houses The Chalet, is up for sale for the first time in over 65 years

A PLOT of land commanding 180 degree views over Lyme Bay has become available to buy for the first time in over 65 years.

The sale of the site, set above Marine Parade and adjacent to Lister Gardens in Lyme Regis, is an opportunity to create a one-off coastal residence in one of the south coast’s most desirable resorts.

The 0.3 acre plot currently houses an 800 square foot single-story residence, known as The Chalet, which is currently uninhabitable.

The building has planning permission to be extended and could be reconfigured or, subject to the necessary consents, demolished and a new home erected in its place.

Chris Clifford of Savills Exeter is marketing the property and commented: “Only very rarely do opportunities of this calibre come to the open market. With uninterrupted panoramic views over Lyme Regis Beach, the harbour and the historic Cobb, its setting is unrivalled in the area.

“For the eventual buyer it provides an exciting opportunity to create an individual state-of-the-art home, that is exceptionally well-located to make the most of all that Lyme Regis has to offer.

“Foodies will appreciate its proximity to an array of eateries, including the renowned HIX Oyster & Fish House, only 80 meters door-to-door. Meanwhile, pedestrian access to the coastal path from the south-facing garden is likely to attract many.”

The property is approached by a shared driveway, and offers two designated off-road parking spaces.

The Chalet is now available to view and will be sold by informal tender at 12noon on Thursday, April 25. For further information, contact Savills in 01392 455 733 or email cclifford@savills.com
