Police appeal for witnesses following sexual assault

POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a sexual assault in Lyme Regis.

Police were called at 8.44pm on Monday, July 23 to reports that a woman in her 20s, visiting from London, had been sexually assaulted as she walked along Charmouth Road earlier that evening, at approximately 6.15pm.

The woman said a man had approached her and touched her inappropriately. He then ran away along Anning Road.

Appealing for witnesses on social media, PC Richard Winward said the man was topless and carrying a white shirt. He added that the victim was not physically harmed but shaken up.

No arrests have been made and an investigation is underway. If anyone has any information on this incident they should call police on 101.
