Woodmead Road closed after wall hit by lorry

THE top of Woodmead Road in Lyme Regis is closed to traffic after an articulated lorry smashed a stone wall.

The wall outside Springfield House at the junction of Woodmead Road and Silver Street partially collapsed after it was hit by the heavy goods vehicle this morning (Wednesday).

It has been reported that the driver had attempted to take the lorry down Church Street but was stopped and warned of the tight corner outside the Guildhall, but was then seen driving up Woodmead Road.

Debris has been cleared but police have cordoned off the top of Woodmead Road for safety reasons, as the wall is at risk of further collapse.
