LYME Regis Football Club is asking residents to ‘Save the Date’ as the Seasiders plan a double celebration on Saturday, May 19th.
The club will be holding a beer festival to celebrate the royal wedding of HRH Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, followed by the FA Cup Final. Both events will be shown on a big screen in the Davey Fort clubhouse.
There will be a full bar open all day, as well as a selection of craft ales and ciders, a Pimm’s tent and plenty of prosecco to toast the happy couple. Further details about the day’s events are expected to be announced shortly.
The beer festival is just one of several events the Seasiders have in the pipeline, as they have to reach their fundraising target of £12,000 by the end of the season to continue their ‘Project Fortify’ development scheme.
The club was last year granted £100,000 over three years by Lyme Regis Town Council, but has to raise £12,000 a year itself for council funds to be released. The first phase of ‘Project Fortify’ – a new kitchen extension – was completed in September. The club is this year planning to build outdoor covered seating along the south bank of the pitch, with work set to start in June.
The final phase of the project, which will include improvements to car parking facilities, is planned for next year.
Other fundraising events this year include live music, a ladies night, an Easter draw on Saturday, March 31st and a repeat of last year’s popular Sausage & Cider Festival on Saturday, July 7th.
