Plans for tattoo studio in Lyme Regis

PLANS have been submitted to open a tattoo studio in Lyme Regis town centre.

An application has been submitted to Dorset Council to change the use of 6 Bridge Street, a grade II listed property in the Conservation Area, from a shop to a tattoo studio.

The shop is sited opposite the museum and Guildhall and was formerly known as The Writing Room.

The proposal does not seek to make any internal or external changes to the property, aside from the material change of use and erection of a new painted timber sign.

The application says the premises “performs poorly” as a retail shop because it has no direct access to Bridge Street or the benefit of an active shopping frontage, with only two small sash windows.

It continues: “It is for this reason previous occupiers have struggled to maintain a profitable and operational business model. In this instance, and the nature of how the tattoo studio will operate, this unit provides the perfect platform to operate from as they do not require an active frontage.”

If approved, the new tattoo studio would be the first to open in Lyme Regis.

The full application can be viewed by clicking here where the public can comment on the proposals.
