Local artists taking part in Dorset Art Weeks

ARTISTS in the Lyme Regis area will be exhibiting their work as part of Dorset Art Weeks from May 26 to June 10.

Over the next few weeks, residents and visitors to the area will see the distinctive yellow signs popping up in the area, directing them to open studios, outdoor sculpture and creative spaces where they can chat with the artists and purchase a variety of work from paintings to pottery.

Artists taking part in the Lyme Regis area include the following:

Julie Oldfield
Mixed media paintings

Inventive and distinctive paintings on metal, copper and brass sheets using experimental techniques such as acids, alkalis and natural weathering process.

Julie’s garden is her studio. To visit to see her work in progress and paintings for sale, follow the yellow sign for venue 276 between Axminster and Lyme Regis.

Jools Woodhouse
Paintings

Inspired by life on the coast, Jools paints colourful contemporary styled scenes of harbours, boats, cottages and the rich landscape of Dorset and Devon. Jools paintings often reflect the changing seasons on the coast and is showing her latest paintings, Giclée prints and cards.

Her wooden studio is set in a large, beautiful prairie planted garden on Springhead Road, Rocombe, Lyme Regis – venue 275.

Magda Perrett and Caroline Barnes
Paintings and ceramics

Magda’s artwork is an exploration of texture, pattern and colour. Influenced by tribal art and nature she likes to play with shapes and enjoys finding balance in unexpected forms and hues often with an organic and tactile element.

Caroline creates collections of decorative porcelain with platinum and coloured images. Here you will find buttons, coasters, and brooches adorned with botanical and coastal motifs. New of for 2018 is a range of porcelain greeting cards.

Flora Wood
Screen prints

Flora Wood creates colourful and contempory screen prints from her coach house studio in Lyme Regis.

First time DAW exhibitor Flora is looking forward to welcoming you to her studio at Burley, Silver Street, Lyme Regis, which she will be sharing with Molesworth and Bird’s beautiful pressed and printed seaweed pictures.

Jo Fox & Justin Crofton
Collage and furniture

Jo Fox combines collage and paint. The work is characterised by its narrative quality, combing collective fragments of paper, painted, enhanced and layered.

Justin Crofton combines metals, finished and found woods, using both as pliable materials to create functional furniture.

Zee Jones
Acrylic and collage

Zee is drawn to strong colour combinations and structure and her work has been described as confident, colourful and uplifting. Zees goal is to produce work which affects ée Orion, making people feel lighter and brighter.
