LYME Regis resident Katie Pelaou will be taking on the Jurassic Coast Challenge this weekend to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation.
Katie, whose husband Vic runs Lyme’s Fish Bar, will be walking 100km non-stop from Poole to Bridport with her walking partner Ivan Offord, from Reading.
The pair took on the same distance last year as part of the South Coast Challenge and completed it in 27 hours. This year they hope to beat their time by two hours, and will be setting off from Poole at 9.30am on Saturday, July 21.
Katie, a mum of three and grandmother to one, regularly takes part in charity walks and events. She’s completed Reading Marathon, seven MoonWalks for breast cancer charities, as well as walks for the Meningitis Trust and Weldmar Hospicecare Trust, including their midnight walks in Weymouth.
She’s now hoping to raise £500 for the British Heart Foundation by completing the Jurassic Coast Challenge.
Katie said: “We have taken on the challenge to test ourselves and the raise money for the British Heart Foundation. It’s a tough challenge, last year we had some horrendous blisters so hopefully our feet will be more prepared this year!”
Katie is has been training for her latest event at B! Health & Fitness in Lyme Regis, as well as regularly walking her dogs Ember and Mac, and taking part in Fitsteps classes with local instructor Sarah Causley and yoga with Sam Neal.
