EVENTS and exhibitions at one of Lyme Regis’ key arts venues now face an uncertain future as the Town Mill Arts (TMA) company has closed down.
A statement from TMA – a not-for profit subsidiary of the Town Mill Trust, which ran exhibitions at the Town Mill Galleries in Lyme Regis – said the decision was made to close at the end of February, meaning the recent ‘Printmakers’ exhibition was its last.
The statement on the company’s website added: “The TMA team has formed a Community Interest Company (CIC) and will be making a bid to run the galleries from April 1; we understand that the trust may also be exploring other ways to fulfil its arts objectives if our bid is unsuccessful.
“Until the trust has made a decision, the future direction of the arts at the mill is not fixed. We are hoping to be able to present the schedule of exhibitions we had already planned for 2019.”
