EMERGENCY services were called out to search for a missing man in the Lyme Regis area on Sunday, June 3.

Lyme Regis and West Bay coastguards, Lyme Regis lifeboat crew and police, including the National Police Air Service helicopter, were called to search for the 69-year-old man on Sunday evening.

The West Bay team were tasked eastwards to Stonebarrow and the Cains Folly areas, near Charmouth, to carry out a cliff edge search, as well as a search of the surrounding footpaths and viewpoints.

Officers from Lyme Regis concentrated their search to the east on the beach and cliff areas towards Lyme Regis, whilst the lifeboat carried out a shoreline search between Golden Cap and Monmouth Beach.

After all searches were completed with nothing found, all assets were stood down pending further police enquiries.

It has since been reported that the missing person was later found safe and well out of the area.
