EMERGENCY services were called out in the early hours of Tuesday morning to search for a reported missing person.

A 45-year-old woman who was camping in Seatown was last seen heading up the cliff path towards Thorncombe Beacon.

Coastguards from West Bay and Lyme Regis were called to the area to assist police with a missing person search. Lyme Regis lifeboat crew was also called out at 2.15am to conduct a shoreline search. Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 175 based at Solent was also scrambled and the duty Senior Coastal Operations Officer (SCOO) was tasked to assist.

After liaising with police to get an understanding of the areas already searched, coastguards deployed search teams from both Seatown and Eype towards Thorncombe Beacon, whilst the lifeboat conducted a shoreline search of the beach and under-cliffs.

With nothing found, the search area was widened and officers redeployed to West Bay, East Cliff and West Cliff whilst the lifeboat conducted a shoreline search from Burton Bradstock to Charmouth.

With dawn breaking and nothing found, all resources were stood down pending further enquiries. There has been no further update on the reported missing person.
