Body found at Hive Beach after man swept out to sea

A BODY was found on Monday following extensive searches for a man swept out to sea at Freshwater Beach, near Bridport.

Dorset Police was called at 2.55pm on Sunday, November 3 to a report of concern for welfare of a man in the water near to Freshwater Beach Holiday Park.

It was reported that the man, aged in his 20s, was walking along the beach with a woman when a wave swept them out to sea. The woman made it back to shore and was treated by the ambulance service.

Police, coastguards, lifeboat crews from Lyme Regis and Exmouth, the ambulance service and three helicopters worked together to carry out extensive searches for the man, but to no avail.

The body of a man was found on Hive Beach at Burton Bradstock on Monday morning. While the body is yet to be formally identified, it is believed to be that of the man who went missing near to Freshwater Beach Holiday Park.

His family has been informed and the coroner has also been notified.
