LOVE Lyme’s Beaches is leading the way in Lyme Regis for the annual Great Dorset Beach Clean.
All are invited to join in the event this Saturday afternoon, April 21, from 2pm to 3pm. A briefing session will begin at 1.45pm by the RNLI shop at the harbour.
Local organiser Krys Lavery said: “Looking forward to seeing everyone. We will have bags and litter pickers ready to tackle Monmouth Beach.”
Volunteers are asked to wear sturdy footwear and gloves are recommended. Children are welcome but do need to be accompanied by adults.
This popular annual event in April beach is one of four beach cleans which Love Lyme’s Beaches organises each year with the help of Litter Free Coast and Sea. Local support has been growing each time as residents and visitors alike are keen to clear the beach of single use plastics, netting and all sorts of litter which can be harmful to the health of the water in the bay and to the many fish and sea life in it.
Keeping our beaches clear of litter is an important part of Turn Lyme Green’s ‘Plastic Free Lyme Regis’ campaign. Anyone interested in helping Lyme Regis become ‘plastic free’ should contact firstname.lastname@example.org to sign up for the newsletter, or visit the Turn Lyme Green website at www.turnlymegreen.co.uk
