Lyme businesses celebrate success at tourism awards

THE Alexandra Hotel & Restaurant and Dorset House both celebrated success at the finals of the Dorset Tourism Awards.

The Alexandra picked up a gold award for Small Hotel/Boutique Accommodation of the Year and a silver for Responsible, Ethical and Sustainable Tourism (pictured below), while Dorset house received gold for B&B and Guesthouse of the Year and was named overall Winner of Winners (above) for its continued dedication to high standards.

Lyn and Jason Martin from Dorset House said: “We are bowled over by this award. We love the positive spirit which abounds in Dorset and knowing how accomplished the county’s tourism businesses are, we are immensely proud to receive this accolade.

“With a combined four awards, Lyme Regis definitely stole the show at the awards ceremony.”

Sean Smith, general manager at the Alexandra Hotel, added: “We are very happy and proud of our success at the awards and share our excitement and congratulations with our friends at the Dorset House.”

A record 72 trophies were presented to tourism businesses from across Dorset at the 2018 awards dinner, held at The Lighthouse in Poole with the guest speaker being impressionist Debra Stephenson.
