Diamond wedding anniversary celebrations at Fairfield House

FAIRFIELD House in Lyme Regis celebrated the diamond wedding anniversary of residents Brenda and Alan Hill last week.

Brenda and Alan first met as teenagers in Redcatch Park, Bristol, and said it was “love at first sight”.

They were married 60 years ago at St Barnabas and lived in Withywood and Whitchurch, Bristol, where Brenda worked in admin at a printing company and later sold advertising for Tradeit, and Alan worked as a fireman on the railway and was a double-glazing fitter.

They retired to Charmouth, where they became a big part of the local community, Brenda in particular enjoying her gardening. The couple have three children, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

They said the secret to a long and happy marriage was simply talking to each other and going through the ups and downs together.
