Appeal for donations as food bank relaunches

lyme forwardLYME Regis Food Bank will be relaunched on Wednesday, May 9 and organisers are appealing to the generosity of residents to help build up a stock.

The food bank will be open every Wednesdays from 10am to 12noon at The Hub in Church Street, Lyme Regis, by kind permission of Lyme Regis Development Trust.

It will help individuals or families in the community who face a short-term ‘food crisis’; being without food or means to obtain food owing to temporary financial, medical or social support problems.

Managed by LymeForward, it will be run by volunteers and people in need of emergency help will be referred to the food bank by responsible organisations, such as GP surgeries, the Citizens Advice Bureau, local churches and chapels, social workers, or health visitors.

The food bank will stock non-perishable items donated by the community and LymeForward has now put out an appeal for donations to build up a sufficient stock before opening.  A list of suitable items can be found here.
