Women’s rights to take spotlight as theatre group presents ‘Made in Dagenham’

AXMINSTER Musical Theatre takes on a real-life story which was made into a hit film and stage show for its latest production.

The group will be presenting ‘Made in Dagenham’ in November, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the real-life events that took place in Dagenham in 1968.

Rita’s a busy mum, loving wife and hard-working Ford factory employee. But something’s very wrong. Rita and her female colleagues find themselves working long hours sewing car seats for far less money than the men… and they’ve had enough!

Finding a voice she never knew she had, Rita leads the women on a trailblazing battle for equal pay, taking on the unions, Ford’s top brass and the government.

As the pressure mounts, Rita struggles to keep up the fight and the happy home she’s worked so hard for.

Inspired by a true story and based on the hit 2010 movie, ‘Made in Dagenham’ is an uplifting musical comedy about how ordinary people can do extraordinary things.

Don’t miss Axminster Musical Theatre’s very British musical which runs from November 13 to 17 at 7.30pm each evening at Axminster Guildhall, plus a matinee on the Saturday at 2.30pm.

Tickets are available from The Archway Bookshop on 01297 33595 or online at www.ticketsource.co.uk

Please note, this production contains some strong language.
