THE Marine Theatre in Lyme Regis is joining forces with The Rusty Pig from Ottery St Mary to host a special jazz brunch on Father’s Day, featuring music from jazz singer Allison Adams Tucker.
Allison is an internationally acclaimed artist and has entertained audiences in Japan, Europe, Mexico, and the US, including performances at the Blue Note in New York, Ronnie Scott’s, and Herb Alpert’s Vibrato in Los Angeles. Allison will be joined by her London jazz quartet for this special event.
Her vocal range has been coloured by her experience in a variety of musical genres throughout her life, from classical to punk rock and even a cappella Elizabethan madrigals; in 2005 she found her home in jazz.
‘Light and buoyant, her voice is remarkably fresh, its purity underscored by considerable depth and sagely shaded hues, suggesting Tierney Sutton by way of Karen Carpenter.’ – Jazz Times
Allison’s third and latest album ‘WANDERlust’ was recorded in NYC under award-winning producer Matt Pierson (Brad Mehldau, Jane Monheit) and features a stunning all-star ensemble, and received critical acclaim.
‘WANDERlust’ journeys into new territory with stories and music from Björk and Christina Perri to Astor Piazzolla, Pat Metheny and Antonio Carlos Jobim to Ennio Morricone, and even ancient Japanese folk songs, touted “killer stuff from a true rising star” by Midwest Record.
Alongside the musical entertainment, the Rusty Pig’s award-winning street food will tempt fans of flavoursome fare that’s responsibly sourced and cooked with flair. They’ll be serving up their one-pot-wonder: a breakfast cassoulet of homemade sausages, bacon, beans, black pudding and maybe a surprise or two. It will be served with a chunk of sourdough bread.
The event will be held at the Marine Theatre on Sunday, June 17, with the bar opening at 10am and music from 11am.
Tickets including food cost £20 and must be booked in advance by calling 01297 442138 or via the website www.marinetheatre.com
