Lyme Regis treated to concert on handmade instruments

Marshall Stapleton and Glenn Ford, the Lym Delta Rhythm Kings

THE Marine Theatre in Lyme Regis will host a special concert of ragtime and rockabilly on handcrafted instruments by the Lym Delta Rhythm Kings.

Multi-instrumentalists Marshall Stapleton and Glenn Ford said: “We hail from the further reaches of the Lym Delta, last survivors of the musical traditions once prevalent in these environs.”

Expect to hear toe-tapping train songs, jazz-time instrumentals, and lots more, played on the latest acoustic instruments, guitars, mandolins and ukes, all hand-crafted by Marshall. Hear the story behind each instrument as Marshall gives entertaining insights into his inspirations and the materials and techniques used.

Since last playing in Lyme Regis, Marshall has appeared at London’s Barbican Hall with his former group, The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain.

The concert will be held on Sunday, July 1 with tickets starting from £7.20 (booking fee may apply), available by calling 01297 442138 or visit
