Fleabag’s ‘Hot Priest’ to star in Noel Coward comedy

THE Marine Theatre in Lyme Regis will be live streaming Noel Coward’s provocative comedy, ‘Present Laughter’, direct from London.

The performance, which stars Andrew Scott (BBC’s ‘Sherlock’ and ‘Fleabag’), Sophie Thompson (‘Four Weddings and a Funeral’), and Indira Varma (‘Luther’,‘Game of Thrones’), is directed by National Theatre veteran Matthew Warchus.

The comedy follows the life of star actor Garry Essendine as he prepares to embark on an overseas tour. Essendine’s colourful life is in peril of spiralling out of control. Overwhelmingly engulfed by a rapidly escalating identity crisis, his various and many relationships battle for his undivided attention.

His few remaining days at home are embroiled in chaos: a theatrical whirlwind of love, sex, panic, and soul-searching – all the ingredients for a classic Coward.

‘Present Laughter’ is a scintillatingly giddy and surprisingly modern reflection on fame, desire, and loneliness. The performance will be captured live from The Old Vic in London and streamed to the Marine Theatre on Sunday, December 1.

The bar will open at 6pm for a 7pm screening. Tickets cost £11 in advance, £14.50 on the door or £5 for under 18s, with 10% off for theatre members. To book, call 01297 442138 or visit www.marinetheatre.com
