Scouts put to the test at ‘Strategy’ event

THE 1st Lym Valley Scouts attended national event ‘Strategy’ over the weekend, as part of an action-packed summer programme.

The troop came 76th out of 295 teams, putting them in the top 25 per cent of teams at the event.

The Scouts had to complete multiple challenges in a bid to win points, including navigating a cave bus, frisbee golf, ‘Supermarket Sweep’, ‘Total Wipeout’ balls and many more puzzles and games.

Leader Karen Yelland said: “I’m really proud of the Scouts that took part in this years event. It takes a lot of effort to do it and the heat we experienced over the weekend certainly took the difficulty up a few notches.

“The young people were after something that challenged them and I think they found it!”

It was not all work, however, as the youngsters also enjoyed an on-site disco and café, allowing them to relax after a hard day’s work.

The Scouts have spaces for boys and girls aged between 10 and 14, if you know someone that wants to join the adventure, get in touch with Karen Yelland by emailing
