TEN members of the 1st Lym Valley Scouts had their best weekend yet at the annual Strategy Competition in Cirencester, Gloucestershire.
Their two teams came 18th and 118th out of 334 teams from across the country – placing themselves in the top 5% and 35% respectively in the UK.
Scout leader Karen Yelland said: “This is an outstanding result. I’m so pleased they have been rewarded well for their efforts – they worked well as teams and put in a lot of effort.
“It’s great that the Scouts have these opportunities to push themselves and shine, not just locally, but nationally as well.”
The Scouts partook in a number of activities during the event, ranging from racing up a climbing wall to doing a ‘supermarket sweep’. When the Scouts finished the challenge, they had the opportunity to dance in the music tent, enjoy the inflatable activities, and mix with Scouts from across the country.
This summer has been particularly busy for the Scout troop, now numbering 25, which has attended the Uplyme and Anning Road fetes; been out and about playing Lyme Regis Monopoly; been preparing for their trip the south of France this August; and are getting ready for their second annual cardboard boat regatta happening in a few weeks time.
