Rotary converts old currency into funds for good causes

rotary club logoTHE Rotary Club of Lyme Regis has converted donations of foreign and disused currency into £400  for good causes.

The club has several collection boxes at businesses in Lyme Regis and Charmouth, where foreign notes, coins and old UK notes and coins can be donated – even if not in circulation anymore.

Thanks to the community’s generous donations, the Rotary Club has converted this in £400 sterling, through a process of sales on eBay, deposits in the bank and sales of bulk coins by weight.

A spokesperson for the Rotary Club said: “We are continuing with our collection thanks to the generosity of Serendip, Martin Diplock, Royal Lion, FSB, Guy Hayden and Your World Travel in Lyme Regis and FSB and the Royal Oak in Charmouth.

“Please think of us when you are clearing out your drawers, and when you come back from holidays, for we can make every penny of that spare money work for good causes.”
