THE main event this winter at the Town Mill galleries in Lyme Regis will be the third Printmakers Open from February 9th to 28th.
The success of the previous two opens has prompted an expansion into a second gallery and some new workshops for this year’s edition. While the Malthouse Gallery will showcase work by local Dorset and Devon printmakers and members of Exeter’s Double Elephant cooperative, the Courtyard Gallery will feature recent work by members of the Society of Wood Engravers.
The eight engravers taking part are Leonie Bradley, Peter Forster, David Robertson, Ann Tout, Geri Waddington, Jim Westergard, Peter Lawrence and Hilary Paynter, and their engravings include the traditional and figurative as well as the bold and modern.
On February 24th and 25th, from 10am to 3pm, visitors will have the chance to follow one of two mono-printing workshops with renowned South West printmaker Anita Reynolds, in which they will learn how to make colourful one-off prints using a variety of techniques.
This is suitable for beginners (aged 16 and over) and each workshop costs £45. As space is limited, you are advised to book by calling 01297 444042 or visit www.townmill.org.uk
